Even if you are in your twenties, thirties or just a budding teen, you cannot deny the importance of setting your day right. Gone are the days when we can just lay around for hours, staring into space and singing “que sera, sera... whatever will be, will be.” It’s a different generation we’re living in. We have to admit the game has changed since the new millennium came in. It’s like everyone suddenly cared about how the present shaped the future.
Everyone now knows how essential it is to maximize the days as no know how time flies so fast even without our control.
And countless books and online articles relentlessly relate the success of our day to how we spend our mornings and the minutes before we go to bed. So here are simple but effective routines that may help you spend your mornings wisely.
Morning routine:
Prayer and Praise (7 minutes)- Amp up your morning by immediately exclaiming “Good morning, Lord.” It sets your mind to the fact that God gave you another day in your life and that is indeed a blessing no one in this world can dispute. Let love and peace flood your heart as you remind yourself of God’s words and promises.
There is nothing better than dancing to the tune of your favorite praise song in your room (without anyone seeing, it’s your prerogative at this point) to awaken your senses and stir up your passion for Him. Let good words come out of your mouth and declare how good He is and how good your day will be consequently.
2. Devotion- (7-10 minutes)- There are endless benefits you can receive upon reading God’s word. Anyone caught in the habit of doing their daily devotionals can attest to this. We also have to admit that randomly opening your bible to any of its page and pointing your finger to any verse is just plain ineffective.
If it will be your first time to read the bible, it is highly suggested to ask guidance from someone with ample knowledge on the easier and proper approach to bible reading. You’ll be surprised at the perfect instructions God can give you for that specific day. Trade your horoscope with sure and heart-warming messages from the Lord.
3. Exercise (5-10 minutes)- Sorry, but this really needs to be included in our list. It actually depends on how much time you are willing to put into your health—again, let me emphasize it, it’s YOUR health. Forget about looking good in front of the mirror or a camera. You really have to start taking care of yourself. If you want to join in on the bandwagon, this is the best purpose so far.
No time to hit the gym? Visit YouTube and search for 5 or 10 minute workouts. Choose on what body area you want to focus on—abs, thighs, legs or biceps, it’s up to you. Be consistent and watch results unfold after a couple of months. You’ll surely obsess over your day to day progress.
4. Breakfast and Vitamins- A.K.A the infamous morning combo. There’s nothing better than to start the day with food that will boost your energy. A heavy breakfast is proven to be an integral element to having a good day as it awakens your body to perform your lined-up activities. Seek help from a friend to plan out the best diet for you.
Get a recommendation from your doctor of what vitamins are suited for your health state. Don’t just grab anything from the counter.
5. Listen to motivational podcasts in the shower/car- or basically, any idle moment you may have wherein your ears are free to listen and you can multi-task. Among the notable motivational speakers with YouTube accounts are: Steven Furtick, Benny Hinn, John Maxwell, Ted talks, Terri Seville Foy, Joyce Meyer or you can visit our church’s website for free podcasts: harvestersteam.wixsite.com/rlcph.
You will not be in a ‘good mood’ every morning. Sometimes, you will need someone to knock some sense into you especially if you have just gone through hell the past week, or you know you’ll have a lot on your plate throughout the day. Keep listening, learning and keep being inspired—no matter where you are. Thank you, Lord for YouTube and the internet.
The list can be endless. You can add more to this list (just make sure not to take off anything.. hihi!) The point is to be able to come up with a formula to help you construct yourself in the morning to enjoy the rest of the day. Say goodbye to just “surviving” the day and say hello to what could be the best day of your life”.
